Our beloved Nanay, Teresita "Tita" De Leon, transitioned home on June 28, 2024, at age 77, after a 2+ year battle with stomach cancer. Nanay was surrounded by many loving family members and friends when she passed.

Tita was born on January 19, 1947, in Guadalupe, Makati, Philippines. As a kid, Tita loved running around with her cousins in her home province, Abra, and eating her favourite fruits. She attended up to the 4th grade in schooling due to poverty but later was able to take some tailoring courses as a young adult, where she then became a seamstress. She then moved to California in 1992 with her family and later went back to school to become a Certified Nurse Assistant. She retired from working at the Salem Lutheran Home in Oakland, CA.

Being a mother was one of the most important parts of Tita’s life, a role that gave her much pride and joy. She was an excellent mom, grandmother, sister, aunty, cousin, daughter, and friend; she was caring, kind, generous, hilarious, and witty and we will all miss her dearly. In addition to being a loving mother, Tita also loved gardening - tending to her orchids; cooking delicious meals of kare kare, dinuguan, ​​and ginataang bilo bilo; walking to the beach with her sister, Mila; sewing, supporting family members in the Philippines; and travelling. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith, in which she prayed for everyone who was in need. She was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity.

Tita joins her father, Rosalico Bayle; mother, Rosalia Bayle; and daughter, Lailanie “Kangkang” De Leon, in the afterlife. She is survived by her children, Lisandro De Leon and Leilani De Leon; Laureana De Leon and Renato Suralta; Laurence De Leon and Jinky De Leon; Lenynne De Leon and Rogina De Leon; Lean De Leon; and her grandchildren, Jhonn Robert Agustin, Mary Lei Agustin, and Lyssandra Jei De Leon; Robin Landen Suralta and Liam Riley Suralta; Lloyd Jenry De Leon, Jared Louis De Leon, and Leandrei Jayden De Leon; Nicole Javier and Enoch Lemwell De Leon; and her great-grandchild, Jaylen Carter De Leon. It is such a joy to have loved Nanay and be loved in return, truly a gift that has instilled in all of us the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right.

Our mother was a source of inspiration to us all and she will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched. Nanay is now an ancestor and will miss her tremendously.

Please join us as we honour Nanay Tita at the Chapel of the Chimes Hayward. The viewing service will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 4-8 PM, the family kindly asks guests to wear black. The funeral service from 12-1:30 PM and burial service from 1:45-2:45 PM will be on Saturday, July 20, the family kindly asks guests to wear white. The family will be accepting online and in-person financial donations and flowers. Nanay, palagi kang nasa puso namin at hindi ka namin malilimutan. Mahal ka namin ng sobra. Salamat.
