Teresa's obituary
Teresa Marie Pfiffner, 64, of Waterloo, Iowa passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024 in her home after a brief illness.
She was born April 22, 1960 in Waterloo the daughter of Cletus and Joanne (Maiers) Pfiffner. Teresa graduated from Dunkerton High School in 1978. She liked to say that she also attended the school of hard knocks, graduating summa cum laude.
Teresa held various positions in her life, working at a craft shop in high school and later at Osco Drugs in Crossroads Mall and several gas stations. She also worked as a bookkeeper, house cleaner, and bartender.
She loved cooking and baking and was always trying out new recipes to share with friends and neighbors, and her library of cookbooks and recipe cards proves it. She enjoyed playing cards and collecting Wizard of Oz memorabilia. A savvy thrifter, she could spot a deal faster than anyone. A self-described social butterfly, her happiest times were spent sharing a drink with friends, often at the American Legion Becker-Chapman Post 138. Teresa was quite a story-teller and could bring a group to laughter and tears at the same time, and she always remembered birthdays and anniversaries with a card or a text. She was a font of useless information, mastering arm-chair Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and always tried to be stylish with her coordinated outfits, especially in any shade of purple.
To say she loved music is an understatement. She had an extensive record collection; her favorites included Carole King, The Eagles, and James Taylor. She also loved singing, performing in school with the Dunkerton High School Chorus, and informally with friends and family in social settings.
She attended St. Francis Barclay in her youth with her family, and as an adult sought and found God in all areas of life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cletus and Joanne, stepmother Evelyn (Barnes) Pfiffner, and brother-in-law Ross Wilson. Left to share her memory are her siblings: Tom (Carolyn) Pfiffner, Lisa (Matt) Pfiffner-Eaton, Linda Wilson, Maria (Rick Storlie) Pfiffner, Matt (Nicki) Ivey, Kathy Pfiffner, and Ken (Marcea Seible) Pfiffner; stepbrother Rob (Dawn) Reiter; nieces and nephews; and numerous devoted friends.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 November 23, with visitation an hour before, at St. Francis Catholic church - Barclay, in rural Dunkerton. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A Celebration of Life gathering will take place from 2-5PM November 24, at the American Legion Becker-Chapman Post 138, in Waterloo.
Memorials may be directed to the family, or to Cedar Valley Hospice. US Cremation Society is assisting the family.
