Tawanda was a great friend from our service together at Ft. Ord, CA.  We have kept in touch ever since.  She will be greatly missed.  My condolences to her family.

I love Tawanda so much. She was determined to make my boys and myself readers and it was definitely mission accomplished, which I know made her so happy. We would get postcards from her at least once a month which I have kept over the years on binder rings. She would have friends bring them back from their travels to Florida, Spain, Italy and more for us so we could look up the places in the atlas.

I am going to miss her so much, the 4am text messages with jeopardy questions or random facts, the phone calls that were only for a quick question but would last at least a half an hour or more. I keep reaching for my phone to send her a joke I heard or a funny picture of the boys or our animals. Those of us who knew her and loved her and she loved in return now feel a loss that cannot be replaced.

i just had lunch with tawanda one month ago at the 99 in Centerville.  she always ordered a plate of hot french fries.  we laughed, we share difficulties, and we left feeling better to have spent an afternoon with a good friend.  the next day she traveled down to orleans to give me a gift bag with chocolates and a card that read "You happy UP the world".  she loved Carrie and her two boys.  she loved doing things for others.  and she was sassy as the day is long.  she certainly loved her Downtown Abby.  my fond memories of her will forever live in my heart.  fly high with the angels tawanda and keep an eye on me, ok?  xoxoxoxo

Tawanda was my next door neighbor in Nantucket and a friend to me and my family.  Occasionally I walked with her at 6:30 AM, admired her fortitude in sticking to her exercise regimen and hearing the stories of her dad Ray, whom I knew as a youngster while spending many summers with my grandmother. After she moved off island I made it a point to see her when I was coming or going to Nantucket, at her home, at Dunkin' or at Olive Garden. I will miss her. Condolences and blessings to her family.
My condolences to Tawanda's family. I first met Tawanda when she moved to the house across from me, I used to take my granddaughter Madalynn to the bus stop everyday and Tawanda started to come out and talk with us and when Maddie got on the bus, Tawanda and I would walk my dog up to the end of the road and back again. We got to know each other pretty well. She would often talk about her nieces. She was a very interesting person to talk to she loved Law and Order particularly Christopher Meloni!! She loved him.  She told me stories of her mom and dad and their beautiful land on Nantucket and I always wanted her to teach me how to make a Nantucket Basket. We just never got around to it. My husband and I watched out for her by plowing her driveway and walkway.  We sold our house  two years ago and were busy building a new one so we did lose touch. She was a kind person. I am very sad to hear of her passing. My condolences the family she loved telling me all about you. May your memories bring you comfort in the days ahead.  Pamela and Dean Stanley     Rest In Peace, Tawanda
