Taryn's obituary

Taryn Melissa Gatson was born in Detroit, MI, to parents Tyrone Eden and JinElla Eden on April 15, 1971. When Taryn was four years old, her mother married Oscar Adams Sr. Taryn graduated from Putnam City North High School in 1989, the University of Central Oklahoma in 1995, and Rose State College in 2003. During her early years, she found a love of music, traveling, and spending time with her family. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Taryn worked for Quest Diagnostics from 1995-2020. During her time with Quest, Taryn received many accolades and held various medical positions. Taryn specialized in laboratory testing in infectious Serology.

Taryn is the proud mother of Terrance Jamal Eden. They lived in Oklahoma City, OK, Atlanta, GA, and Fort Worth, TX. Taryn was most proud of the kind, caring, loving, and family-focused young man Terrance became. Taryn fiercely loved and supported Terrance. She enjoyed watching him play sports and play video games. One of their most memorable moments was driving to San Antonio, TX, to spend time with family. Terrance loved his mother’s strong personality and her love and care for others. He also appreciated her ability to take firm stances on things that were important to her. She was the strongest person he knew.

Taryn married LeDerek Gatson on June 26, 2020. Although they were only married briefly, Taryn found the love of her life in those years. Taryn and LeDerek enjoyed traveling and spending time together. One of their most fond memories was traveling to the Grand Canyon and visiting Las Vegas. They enjoyed going to the movies, eating at restaurants, and spending time with family. On the anniversary of their first date, January 4th, they would have dinner at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen every year. Which was Taryn’s favorite restaurant.

Taryn adored spending quality time with nieces, nephews, cousins, and siblings. She had so much love to give that her cousins became her brothers and sisters, and friends became her family. She made fond memories with loved ones at gatherings, casinos, cookouts, baby showers, and holidays. Taryn enjoyed being able to make others laugh and bring joy to others. She shared her smile and kind spirit with everyone she met. One of Taryn’s most treasured memories was spending the summer in Hawaii with her cousin LaTasha Yarbrough and family. Taryn enjoyed spending time with her parents. Taryn would make it a point to visit her father’s church when she was in Oklahoma. Taryn enjoyed watching movies and listening to music with her mother. They would often take long road trips together and enjoy the beautiful countryside.

Taryn Heavenly passed in Kingfisher, OK, surrounded by family and many loved ones on October 17, 2023. Taryn is survived by her mother, JinElla Yarbrough; father, Oscar Adams Sr. (wife Agatha Adams); her father-in-law James Gatson (wife Gloria Gatson); husband LeDerk Gatson; her son, Terrance Eden; her sister Pamela Adams; her brothers Oscar Adams Jr (wife Karoyln Adams) and Braderick Adams (wife Rachel Adams); her sisters-in-law, Shawanda Gatson, Charmere Gatson, and Jordyne Gatson; her brother-in-law Tifton Gatson (wife Joketa Gatson), Jameron Gatson (wife Sarah Gatson), and LeShawn Gatson; her nephews, Xavier Chambers, RaShaun Phelps, and Oscar Adams III; her nieces, Che’ Adams, RaChe Adams, Tiffani Adams, Isabelle Adams, and Yalina Adams.

Taryn is preceded in death by her father, Tyrone Eden. She is also preceded by loved ones, including in-laws, relatives, and close friends.
