I love that photo of Maman Taj. I will miss her presence so much. I will try to write more to share from my childhood with her in the States and as a young adult spending time with her in Tehran. Right now, I just post this short message as a missive to her spirit, since I can't be in Virginia for the funeral this morning. Be well, rest in peace, love.

I have never met Maman, but I have known Simin for over 50 years. And knowing how devoted Simin was to her mother tells me a great deal about what her mother was like. Patti & I regret that we never had the opportunity to meet Maman & share with her the affection that we both have for Simin, & by extension for her & the entire family. Our sincerest condolences on her passing.

هاله جان باز بسیار متاسفم این خاطره از مادر نازنینت خیلی خوب به یاد دارم پسرت که به دنیا آمده بود مادرت برایش یک سفره انداخته بود خیلی خیلی زحمت کشیده بود بعد همه ما که سر سفره نشسته بودم یک خانمی شروع به دعا خوانند کرد مامانت به همه ما نگاه کرد و گفت ببین تورو خدا یک مشت بی خدا رو دعوت کردم برای سفره
روحش شاد یادش همیشه گرامی
