Taibat Anike's obituary
Taibat Anike Oladunni Ajibona (née Ajibona), 78, of Lagos, Nigeria, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2022, following a brief illness.
Born in Lagos on July 1, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Sikirat Akinola and Saka Ajibona. Her father was a zoologist, and her mother, descended from the Onilegbale White Cap Chieftains of Lagos, was an inheritor of a distinguished cultural craft trade.
In 1963, she married Alhaji Muideen Lekan Ajibade. Their union was blessed with four children: Wale, Biola, Yinka, and Biodun Ajibade. The couple parted ways in 1974. She later married Alhaji Mehmood Olayori, with whom she had two daughters, Eniola and Yetunde Olayori.
Tai was a woman of remarkable confidence and strength, who single-handedly raised her six children with love and devotion. She was a generous and compassionate matriarch who made it her life's mission to improve the lives of others. A pillar of her community, she built a local mosque and served graciously as an elder, resolving disputes and offering wise counsel, care, and guidance to family, friends, and neighbors alike.
She leaves behind a lasting legacy and is survived by her six children, 19 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren at the time she was called to grace, whom she was blessed to know and cherish.
She was laid to rest at her residence for the everlasting rest and eternal peace. She is profoundly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service and celebration of her life, marking the 41st day of prayers, was held on April 7, 2022, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at 22 Adamson Street, Off Akinde Road, Alakuko, Lagos (near Ajegunle Bus Stop, Ojokoro)
Love you, Mummy.
