So saddened by the loss of you Sylvie, my cousin/daughter since age 13. I first saw you in New Jersey at 3 months old, loving you as a beautiful baby, again as a teenager when you came to live with us and of course, recently, as we enjoyed lunch together, you at 66 and me as an old lady. Rest now sweet girl and have no more worries. You are forever in my heart and will be remembered as our daughter.
Love you Syl! Mom and Dad

My fondest memories of Sylvia all stem from our wandering conversations. My wife (her daughter, Erica) and I would meet Sylvia at a restaurant or at home, and we’d chat about anything from some historical event to the most recent book she read or her favorite classic movie. Our discussions were always lively and full of jokes. She had a dry wit that I enjoyed and we both liked taking jabs at nitwit politicians. Given her love of books and old movies, it was always easy to learn something new about a subject I was not familiar with. And she always took the time to ask about what I was working on or how my folks were doing. Her love of animals greatly endeared her to me. Even though she was firmly a cat person, she still always asked about our dogs. Joking aside, Sylvia will be greatly missed by us. I’ll always think of her when I open up a new book, watch an old movie, or hear anything at all about England. We’ll miss you, Sylvia.

Sylvia was my coworker for over 10 years. To me, she was "Sly Dog". She earned that nickname just shortly after she started working here. I will miss her dearly. Hearing her say "SSDD" when you asked her how she was doing and she was always willing to help in any way she could. When she went to London, she brought back this horse for me, I'll always cherish it and the times we laughed together at our supervisors. Rest in Peace Sly... we will all miss you so much.

I only had a small glimpse into her life but I knew Sylvia as an introspective person who cared for her kids through rocky times and loved a quiet home full of cats and rats and books. Rest in peace.

It's hard to choose one memory of Sylvia since I have 33 years worth of memories of my sweet mom. One that comes to mind was our trip to Virginia City to celebrate her 60th birthday. Her son-in-law (my husband, Josh), mom, myself and my childhood friend Stephanie (who was like another daughter to my mom) all drove up together to spend the day taking in the history and to celebrate her special birthday. Mom loved history, including local hauntings, so naturally we went to places like the Silver Dollar Saloon and Pipers Opera House (one of the photos shared is us in front of Pipers). It is one of those memories that is a little vague on details but the impression of it is still strong in the sense that is was a mild spring day in the dessert where the sun was shining but the air was still cool, and the company and conversation had everyone in good spirits. I mostly think of it because she had a smile on her face the whole time and seemed to really relax into the day and enjoy the moment. She had a hoot (her words) walking up and down the old wooden sidewalks, chit chatting about this and that. We ended the trip with a birthday toast at the Bucket of Blood Saloon. She later said it was the best birthday she ever had, and I'm thankful I could be there with her to celebrate such a big milestone birthday. I love you mom.
