Sylvia's obituary

Sylvia Louise Potenziani, age 84 of Blooming Grove, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her immediate family after a long battle with COPD and other lung related complications. She was the beloved wife of Paul A. Potenziani Sr., who she married in 1962.

Sylvia was born in Bridgeport CT and was one of 13 foster children of the late Joesph and Agnes Marasco. Sylvia lived in Danbury, CT for 64 years before retiring to PA in 2005 where she lived for the past 20 years.

Sylvia enjoyed her life and had spent a lot of her time sewing clothes (vestments) for the local Catholic church while living in CT, always crocheting blankets and baby sets for newborns. One of her favorite pastimes was completing puzzles when relaxing at home. She was a loving mother to two sons, Paul Jr (deceased) and Peter. She dedicated her life to her family, always there with a listening ear and providing unconditional love and emotional support.

Sylvia is survived by her devoted husband Paul Potenziani Sr. of Blooming Grove PA, Her youngest son Peter Potenziani, future daughter-in-law Wantanee Prangchan, sisters; Elizabeth Johnson, Sharon Randazzo, Helen Lajoie, and brother; Richard Marasco. She is predeceased by her oldest son Paul Potenziani Jr., her parents Joesph and Agnes Marasco, and her in-laws Luigi and Giovanna Potenziani.

To honor her wishes, she will be cremated and there will be no funeral service. We invite you to please privately celebrate Sylvia’s memory in your own way. I know that she will be with us all in spirit. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Sylvias’ name to the ASPCA at ASPCA.org.
