Sylvia's obituary

Sylvia Madison was peacefully called home to join her mother and father, Allen and Thomasine Madison, on September 26, 2019 at the age of 73.
Sylvia was an adored mother, cherished sister, and faithful friend. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High school, class of 1966, before attending Norfolk State University and Tidewater Community College. She loved and was loved by many during her time employed at DePaul Hospital, Pitney Bowes, HRT, and Norfolk Naval Base.
Sylvia embodied a ‘tell it like it is with love’ attitude and lived by treating others the way she wanted to be treated. Her presence will be missed at $5 movies on Tuesday’s at MacArthur Mall. She was Aretha Franklin’s biggest fan and truly believed in R.E.S.P.E.C.T. She will be remembered during her favorite movie, The Color Purple.
Sylvia was preceded in death by Frank McClain and survived by their children, Ronda Madison, Blaine Madison, Brian Madison, and daughter-in-law Kismet Madison. She is also survived by her beloved companion, Eddie Haskins, Jr., their daughter Samantha Madison and future son-in-law Antoine Harris as well as her special daughter, Sandra Elizabeth. Sylvia is also survived by her grandchildren Wesley Turner, Veronica Madison, Dante Madison, Allen Madison, Savion Madison, and Destiny Madison. She is survived by her sisters Aline Merritt, Anne Alston, Sandra Madison and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
