Our Heavenly Father called Sylvia Jean Adams, 82 years old, of Boise, Idaho, home, in the early morning hours of October 25th.

Sylvia was born on February 26th, 1941, to Macie Chloren Case and Dale William Case Sr. in the small-town of Brighton, Colorado. She, along with her two brothers and four sisters, were raised on a small farm, where she learned the value of hard work, caring for others, and respecting the good Lord. After Sylvia graduated from Brighton High School in 1959, she went on to study at LIFE Bible College, in Los Angeles, California.

While attending school, she met her college sweetheart and love of her life, Gary Adams. Sylvia and Gary loved to laugh and play pranks on each other, and they enjoyed their many adventures together. After years of marriage, they were often asked if they were newlyweds. They were inseparable, for their entire 57 years of marriage.

Sylvia and Gary went on to raise three daughters. Sylvia was a very patient, encouraging and kind mom. She raised her daughters under the Lord’s word, and took great care in instilling values, such as honesty and integrity. She would often quote Philippians 4:8, “…whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” And when her children had a bad day, she would recite Psalm 118:24, “This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” She took great pride in her daughters’ activities and was not only present in their lives but would make any sacrifice for them. She did her best to attend every recital, practice and match. She spent countless hours on the road and in the gym, where she earned the title of the Ultimate Volleyball Team Mom.

Sylvia had many different professions throughout her life. But none, she enjoyed more than working as a lead for Alaska Airlines Reservation Center. Sylvia was a firm believer that God guided her steps, and she did everything to the best of her ability, to honor Him. She would always strive to learn everything she could, so she could use that knowledge to problem solve and help others. She often said her favorite part of the job, was forming friendships with the great people she worked with, throughout her 20-year career.

In retirement, Sylvia enjoyed teaching Sunday school, gardening, traveling, mall walks, dragging her husband into Hobby Lobby, taking care of her cat, Elvis, and a stray cat, Ruffus, who adopted her, and doting on her seven grandkids. She never missed an opportunity to teach them, read to them, attend their various events, encourage them and tell them stories. Nobody told a fairy tale or story like Sylvia Adams. As with her children, she taught her grandkids the true meaning of love.

Sylvia is survived by her husband, Gary; her children, Natalie Martin, of Boise, Idaho, Heather Ward (and husband, Joey), of Meridian, Idaho, and Kelli Griffith (and husband, Austin), of Crosby, Texas; her grandchildren: Luke, Ashley, Nick, Aiden, Addison, Amiya, and Enoch; and her brother, Dale Case Jr; her sisters, Virginia Beebe (and husband, Robert), Beverly Edwards (and husband, Arthur), Joyce Bailey (and husband, Jeff), Betty Reid (and husband, Jim); and her sister-in-law, Ruth Case; as well as by many nephews and nieces.

She is predeceased by her parents, Macie and Dale Case Sr, and brother, Fred Case.

There is no doubt, God worked through Sylvia to show everyone she came across, His love. She was a beautiful person inside and out and cared deeply for others. To the very end, she was always the first to celebrate, encourage, compliment, empathize, and pray for and with those around her. She made a huge impact on so many lives, and will forever be missed, by a great many individuals. Until we meet again.

A memorial service will be held in Sylvia’s honor, at 10am, on Wednesday, November 8th, at Dry Creek Cemetery. Followed by an open house reception, at Calvary Chapel.
