Sylvester "Mannie"'s obituary

Sylvester Rodney Fane, of Toledo, Ohio, affectionately known as “Mannie”, age 70, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Addison Heights Health and Rehabilitation, Maumee, Ohio. He was born on December 2, 1950, in Detroit Michigan to the late, Sylvester Fane and Nokomis (Beatty) Fane.

Mannie battled with numerous illnesses for the past several years, as he fought a gallant fight and ending his battle peacefully in the loving arms of our Lord.

Sylvester’s earlier education began at Courville and Keidan Elementary School, Tappan Junior High School, McKenzie High School and later earned a high school equivalency diploma.

Little did the world know, Mannie was born with raw untapped talent and was an avid reader. Mannie’s gifts were nothing short of “Pure Artistical Talent.”

As a teenager Sylvester worked at several restaurants and at Vernor’s Ginger Ale Bottling in Detroit, Michigan. At the age of 21, Sylvester moved from Detroit, Michigan to Toledo, Ohio and reunited with his parents and siblings.

After moving to Toledo, Ohio, Sylvester trained and later earned credentials as an Apprentice Welder. Sylvester was able to manifest his artistical gifts, through his welding talents to secure employment as a Fabricator Welder at “Toledo Jeep Parkway Plant” and years later at the top of his craft as a Structural Welder at “Toledo Tool & Die”. Intermittently, Sylvester worked at his father’s privately owned “Fane Auto Parts” company.

Mannie’s life was filled with many hills and valleys, and due to the depth of the terrain he wearily traveled. Mannie guarded his overabundance of love and locked it away like priceless rare gemstones, within his heart. Mannie’s symbols of his love are with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
