Susan's obituary
She worked as an LPN long enough to build a barn for her horses and then quit nursing to do the only job she ever truly wanted to do: Motherhood. She excelled at being a mother and then went on to be the very best grandmother and great-grandmother in the world.
Sue and George bought Haycreek Valley Campground and Saloon in 1977 where she worked until she became a grandmother. Soon after, she insisted on being a full time daycare provider to all of her grandchildren for many years.
She was a member of Haycreek Valley Saddle Club, participated in a pool league and liked to golf. She had a beautiful voice and sang for weddings, hymns at church and as she baked at home. She loved to listen to music, cook, read, travel, whistle and anything that involved her grandchildren. She also loved to drive and was a volunteer driver for the County for many years.
She met with her high school classmates every month and was instrumental in getting her old classmates back together. These wonderful people continued to visit her even when she couldn’t get around well any longer. She was an extraordinary friend with so many amazing friendships.
She is survived by her brother Edward Babel; children, Michelle O’Neill, Jennifer (Bruce) Carlson, Patrick (Angie) O’Neill, Trung (Loan To) Duong; nine grandchildren, Brittney, Katie, Travis, Tim, Chase, Lex, Keegan, Roman and Ryan and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Carol Babel and her son, Timothy O’Neill.
A celebration of life will be held from 3pm - 6pm on February 27, 2020 at Haycreek Valley Campground and Saloon. Memorials are preferred to the River Bluff Humane Society.
