Susan's obituary
Susan Newell Baldwin, beloved mother, grandmother, and nurse, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, surrounded by her three children in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was 67 years old.
Susan was born on July 16, 1958, at USAF Hospital in San Francisco, California, to Margaret Mary Newell and William Anthony Newell. She grew up in Dayton, Ohio. After graduating from high school, she attended Kent State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Her dedication to mental health and patient care inspired her to pursue a Master’s Degree in Psychiatric Nursing, a field in which she made a lasting impact.
Susan married William Andrew Baldwin and together they had three children: William Baldwin, Barbara Baldwin, and Andrew Baldwin. After their divorce in 1992, Susan courageously raised her children in North Louisiana, working night shifts as a nurse to provide for her family.
In her later years, Susan lived in Florida and North Carolina, where she enjoyed music, time with her family, and the companionship of her dog, Jelly Bean.
Susan is survived by her three children—William, Barbara, and Andrew Baldwin—and her granddaughter, Colette Claire Powers, daughter of Barbara Baldwin Powers and Matthew Powers.
Her life was one of quiet resilience, compassion, and deep love for her family. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
