Susan's obituary
Susan Jensen, 73, of Los Angeles, CA, passed away on March 23, 2024 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was surrounded by her family and friends.
Susan was born on April 28, 1950 to John and Lois Jensen in Bloomington, MN. After graduating from John F Kennedy High School in 1968, she went on to study at Sweet Briar and The University of Pennsylvania. She worked as a photographer and journalist in the 1970s. In 1975, Susan had her first child, CJ, and in 1977, she had her second child, Rasheda. While pregnant with her third child, Courtney, she completed classes at Valley College in order to become a RN. In 1984, Courtney was born. Susan shared her life with her partner William Dusenbery. The two enjoyed bike rides at the beach, traveling, and jazz festivals. Susan had 6 grandchildren: Samaiya, Julian, Bishop, Navy, Coast, and Mars. In her later years in life, she dedicated herself to them, attending dance recitals, basketball and soccer games, and many school performances. She was their biggest cheerleader and loved to support their interests and endeavors.
Susan was passionate about photography, travel, being active, and people. She always had her camera ready to document every adventure. She loved the beach and traveled to Malibu, Santa Monica, Oceanside, the Caribbean, and Hawaii. She frequently swam, rollerbladed, and walked. She made new friends wherever she went and never shied away from a conversation.
Susan lived a life full of love and always marched to the beat of her own drum. She prided herself in doing things her own way and creating her own unique traditions. She did not base her decisions on what others thought. Instead, she led with her instincts and heart.
Susan was predeceased by her parents John Jensen and Lois Jensen, and her brother, Roger Jensen. She is survived by her siblings Becky Iverson, Nate Jensen, Sarah Hansen, and Bruce Jensen. Susan loved photographs and reminiscing. Please consider posting a photo or memory to celebrate Susan. Details on a Celebration of Life ceremony will be announced at a later date.
