Susan Francis Wight Hood, 66, of Lexington, SC, passed away peacefully at home on May 9, 2020, after battling leukemia. Susan was born to the late Gerald F. Wight Jr. “Jerry” and Jeanne Foellger Wight in Fort Thomas, KY on September 23, 1953. She graduated from Highlands High School, Fort Thomas, KY in 1971. Susan worked at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, SC. She was immersed in the Christian community at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Irmo, SC where she was a devoted secretary, Sunday school teacher and choir member. She loved music, reading, her little dog , Mitzi, and spending time with her friends, but her family was her real passion. She loved each one of them with all her heart. Susan is survived by her husband, Richard; her daughter Emily Hood (Jonathan) Scott; sisters, Mary “Bunny” Wight McCray (late Joe), Tonia Wight (Michael) Scholl; aunts, Sharon Foellger Broxterman (late Jack), Jennifer Foellger (late Anthony ”Tony”); uncle, D. M. “Mickey” (Sandy) Foellger, nieces and nephews, Rob Wasser, Jenna Scholl (Jarrod) Overmann, Michael Scholl; cousins; Barry (Debbie) Broxterman, Molly Broxterman Partyka, Corry Broxterman, Michael Foellger, John Foellger, Alli Foellger; great nieces and nephews; Kelsey (Cole) Grecco, Blake Wasser, Jax Overmann, Jett Overmann, Jace Overmann, Myleigh Wight, Hayleigh Wight, Gerald Wight V. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gerald Wight III; nephew, Gerald Wight IV.
Visitation will be from 11:00-12:00 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service on May 15, 2021, at Christ Church UCC, 15 S. Fort Thomas Ave., Fort Thomas, KY, officiant Reverend Dr. Edward Goode.
