To Neil, his family and all the other friends, I send my condolences. Sue and I were related by marriage (her husband was my second cousin), by geography (I grew up in Monmouth and Ocean Counties, NJ and moved to Maryland from Middletown Township) and by our interests in family ancestry.
When Joe died, at about the same time my second husband died, Sue came to visit me and helped me pack up my Maryland home to move to my new Delaware home.
Sue and I stayed in touch and I visited her whenever I was in Florida; she visited me and attended my mother's 100th Birthday Celebration of Life in Maryland in January 2015.
Sue never stopped doing good, important work and will be remembered for it by all of us.

Sue was such a wonderful and beautiful person. Me and my mom had the delightful honor of volunteering with her at the Savannah’s. It won’t be the same without her there. This tragic news was unexpected and my heart goes out to her whole family. There aren’t any words that can cure a broken heart when you’ve lost a loved one. But hopefully the people who are here for you are a reminder of the fabulous person Sue was

My heart goes out to Sue’s family and friends. Sue was an amazing force and big spirit. She was a giver who loved sharing with others. I’m fortunate to have known and worked with her.

I was so surprised to hear of the news of your passing Susan. We had plans to enjoy Christmas together. How precious life is and how quickly things change. I chose a song not by Bruce but by Isreal Kamakawiwoʻole. I love how he sings Over the Rainbow. I picture the colors of the rainbow and all the animals playing together and a stream, grass, trees and you watching over then while sitting in you kayak. Please watch over dad your big brother he needs your help.

Condolences to Neil and Sue’s extended family and friends. I had the fortune of being one of her instructors for the UF/IFAS Florida Master Naturalist Program. I have a lot of great memories including the kayak excursion she led for our Master Naturalist 20th anniversary celebration. She will be greatly missed.

Our last visit with Sue and my dad (Neil) was in August when they drove up their RV from Florida to stay at our house in Rhode Island. We took her to the Fisherville Brook Wildlife Refuge and she just lit up teaching my girls (Neil’s grandkids) about all of the different plants we were seeing and birds we were hearing. She had such a passion for the outdoors and loved sharing that passion with others. We shared many great memories over the years hiking, kayaking, and being able to share her love for the environment. She will be missed. We all lost her way too soon.
