Gordy and I are so very sorry about the loss of sweet Susan. When we re-joined the Legacy community, we’ll always remember being so warmly welcomed by you both, Wayne.
Her obituary was so beautifully written and we especially enjoyed seeing a fun side of her humor and wit.
We don’t have a cordless vacuum but, if we ever did, we’d name it Longhorn (for our Razorback rival) the Texas Longhorns in her honor.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Susan was my friend and co-worker. She was so much more, though. She was a wife and a mother, a daughter and a sister. But let me tell you she really was. She was a Midwesterner.
Even better, she was a KANSAS Midwesterner.
Those are extra special. Hard-working, loyal and loving. Straight talking and caring. She was my kind of friend.
When she moved to Louisiana — somewhat like another country, I’m sure — she embraced all the “y’alls.”
She did not, however, embrace gumbo.
With her big heart, she warmly welcomed and guided students and families at Cedar Creek. With her Jayhawks fanaticism and never-late-for-a-meeting self, she displayed how Kansas folks get it done. Such a Midwesterner.
And that’s why we loved her and will miss her dearly.

I met Susan in college and my impression from then remains unchanged. Susan was kind, smart and loving. I’m sure in her life that light has been passed on to family and friends.
My thoughts are with Wayne and his family.

Susan was a true example of a Phi Mu Lady. I met Susan as a collegiate at Baker University after I pledged Phi Mu. She was a constant cheerleader and a positive example to all of those around her. Her support was felt by many young women and is a lasting testament to her deep faith and positive outlook on life. My deepest condolences to Wayne and her children as I know that they were truly the love of her life.

Susan was the first person to greet us at Cedar Creek School and the one who made sure that we felt like family. Her love and care for our family didn’t end after that initial meeting. I’ll never forget walking into her office and within minutes of meeting her, two things were made very clear. Her love for KU and the love and pride she had for her family, especially her beautiful Grace. She is also a sister Phi Mu to Lily Belle and always made sure to send little gifts of encouragement. Blessed to have known Susan and I’ll cherish the times we had watching our girls sing and perform together. I will be eternally grateful to God for bringing Grace into our daughter’s life and being one of the best friends she has ever had. Love and prayers to you all…

Susan was absolutely a shining example of all good things! I remember meeting her at Cedar Creek when returning for a year in 2015. She was so kind and so welcoming. She will be missed by any who had the privilege of knowing her.

Susan was in adult bible study with us at Leawood United Methodist Church. I remember Susan and Wayne and their family and I am sorry to hear of her passing at such a young age.
