God’s blessings to each of you and know that I will be with you in thought and prayers. Remember well the few times spent around Susan and Scott and what a wonderful person Susan was and also Scott.
Each and every time she came …
St. Serra Catholic School, Antonio Parkway, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, USA
Each and every time she came to St. Serra for an event for her grandchildren, she would be brightly smiling at the door, excited and always with words of encouragement and love.  Even when the doors of the gym remained closed before a concert or play, she would wait patiently, cheering on everyone, being positive and just exuding excitement.  My goal at all of these events was to try to sit near or with her to enjoy the concert/play/mass through her loving eyes.  Susan(Grammy)was the true role model of deep faith and the light of Christ shining to everyone she met.  Susan(Grammy's light)shines now as an angel and the impact she left on everyone she met will always be in our hearts.

Some of the memories of Susan I will always treasure were formed in the last 30 years. Susan and Scott were back in Iowa for our high school class reunion. Both Susan and Scott helped in any way they could to make each reunion as memorable as possible. They came several days in advance to assist in preparing the venue, running errands, etc. When we had time to slip away, a bunch of us gals loaded into a car and drove 30 miles to visit a classmate in a care center. Another time, one of our classmates had emergency surgery the day of the reunion and Susan and another classmate and I were able to go spend a little time that evening at the hospital with our classmate. In those excursions, I saw the warmth and compassion Susan held for people. Susan was always willing to “be there” for people.

Thirty one years ago today Susan answered a call from Lynne Foster Klein asking why she was not in Pasadena at the Rose Bowl.  Susan's reply, "I'll be right there."  Lynne, "but you will have nowhere to sleep".  Susan, "I'll sleep on the floor."  That conversation started a whirl wind night of going to every party anyone from Albia  (our Iowa hometown) was giving,  watching the Iowa band march through the hotel and going to the huge Pep Rally.  A good time for both of us and a fond memory.
