One of my favorite things about Summer is her passion, her drive, and her competitive nature. During the 2021-2022 school year, Summer worked with me as an afterschool monitor. The two of us spent a lot of hours together in those years, and there are so many things I could say, but my favorite memory that comes to mind is dodgeball. Summer would (almost daily sometimes) challenge the students to a dodgeball game. “Ms.Summer” vs. every student present. They absolutely lived for it. She did NOT hold back, and they didn’t beat her even once. We laughed about it and when I asked why she never let them win, she said they’d never learn how to lose if she did that. She also said she wanted them to be aligned with reality, so that they would be challenged and work hard enough to eventually beat her. She said a victory that they earned would mean more to them. She was so wise. It was also hilarious to see her absolutely crush them as if they weren’t in 2nd grade. That memory makes me smile. Summer was the best. She’s the coolest person I’ve ever known.

Summer, our times together were beautiful. I may have only known you for a few years but you were special enough that it didn’t matter, your positive impact on my life was great.

Summer, I miss you greatly here but I have hope and I will see you again someday.

Summer, you were one of the kindest, most genuine, sweet, funny people I know. We were always joking around and the good times never stopped when you were there.

Summer, you had such a great and positive impact on so many peoples’ lives and I’m so grateful to have known you for the time that I could. Thank you for being such a good friend.

Summer, I’ll see ya on the other side.
