Sumer's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Dr. Sumer Chand Jain's passing on Friday, May 17th. Born in 1930 in Old Delhi, India, he embarked on a remarkable journey that led him to touch countless lives. Dr. Jain overcame a variety of obstacles to pursue a career in medicine, graduating from Indore Medical School before venturing to the United States in 1959 with his beloved wife, Lalita Agarwal, to pursue his residency in Anesthesiology in Washington DC.
Their path took them to various cities along the East Coast before finding a home in St. Louis, where they planted roots for over four decades. Throughout their time there, they not only raised four wonderful children but also became pillars of the Indian community, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew them.
Dr. Jain exuded a contagious zest for life. Whether he was exploring new destinations, relishing peaceful strolls in the park, or cherishing moments with his four children and eight grandchildren, his enthusiasm was ever-present. Surprising to some, he even found joy in the guilty pleasure of watching professional wrestling in his leisure time.
Following his retirement from the medical field, Dr. Jain embarked on a second career as an entrepreneur, successfully navigating various ventures with his characteristic determination and tenacity.
On May 17th, surrounded by loved ones, Dr. Sumer Jain peacefully bid farewell in Alamo, California. His absence leaves a void in the lives of all who knew him, but his spirit will forever inspire and his legacy will endure. He will be dearly missed.
