Sue's obituary
Sue Clayton Emerson, 87, a longtime resident of Robertsdale, Alabama, died June 23, 2025. She is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Emerson; her parents, Fred and Vera Clayton; sisters, Hazel and Ruby; and brothers, Audie, JD, Paul, and Rubel.
Survivors include three daughters, Cathy (Mike) Baswell, Vicki (Marc) Reese, and Lisa (Kenneth) White; seven grandchildren, Melanie, Wayne (Kristina), Britton, Clayton, Morgan (Hunter), Victoria (Ben), and Cathryn (Allen); and seven great-grandchildren, John, Daniel, Michael, Catie Mae, Colton, Autumn, and Katherine.
Sue lived a life of deep faith and steadfast service. After marrying Johnny, she led him to Christ. To her surprise, he then decided to become a minister. Though she never sought the role of a preacher’s wife, she fulfilled the role with quiet determination and constant loyalty, supporting him through 63 years of marriage and standing faithfully beside him as he served the Robertsdale Church of Christ for over 50 years. Sue served as church secretary for most of those years. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and as a fierce Rook competitor.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday June 30, 2025 at the Robertsdale Church of Christ with Andrew Itson officiating. The family will receive friends at 10:30 AM.
