Farewell friend, I have known you for a very long time: a fellow colleague, housemate; I think of all the students you touched, and all of us who witnessed your commitment to a selfless presence among us! May you continue your journey as you transcend to the next life where you will touch souls who need you as much as those who grieve your passing; embrace the love of every single one of us who recognize your passion to live life fully, and may you be forever a giver who receives heartfelt gifts of gratitude 💛
I miss you, my friend. The world is a better place with you here.

I had the privilege of working with Stu at the Bellows Falls Middle School and the High School, we became great friends. Stu and I wore purple every Friday since we started working together. We always made a point of checking to see if the other person was wearing it. Stu was a great guy and the students loved him and his easy calm nature. In the years that I knew Stu, he was always there to offer advice or comfort if you were having a bad day. I will miss seeing your smiling  face and sense of humor. Rest easy my friend.
I knew Stu through Zara, Jack & Arrin. Also through the Morris community. While I didn’t know him as well as others posting here, I did note the wonderful impact he had on Zara and her sons Zach & Luke. He was a great partner, story teller, gardener, dancer, and a kind soul in the world. I can’t imagine the pain his loved ones are going through at losing him at such an early age. Please take comfort in happy memories and the love that surrounds you. Sending many big gentle hugs.
I got to know Stu when we shared an office at Landmark that was so small the individual  tutorials we were supposed to be giving would sometimes become group tutorials. We were also part of Landmark's first learning community, an experience much improved by his knowledge of boats and the Abenaki. I am sorry to hear that this smart, dynamic, kind man is no longer with us. I hope his loved ones find comfort in knowing that his was  a life well-lived and part of him lives on through them and their memories of him.
Stu and I moved in different circles at New Paltz, but I remember a nice guy, a sweet soul, a broad smile and positive energy all around. I can't remember the exact circumstances, but he and I once ended up at the same location on a Saturday afternoon, and I needed new brake pads. The extent of my car repair ability is changing the lightbulb in a headlight on an early 1990s Saab. For some reason, I had the new brake pads but was SOL as far as installing them. Stu spent HOURS doing the job for me. A killer dude. He is missed.
