Wayne Vaughn, 57, of Little Elm, TX, passed away on October 8, 2022 after a fierce and steadfast battle with cholangiocarcinoma. He fought relentlessly since his diagnosis only a few months ago, never giving up and never taking for granted his love of life.
Wayne was born on June 23, 1965 to William Thomas and Helen Ruth Vaughn in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the youngest of 5 siblings, Cynthia Lynn, William Thomas II, Jeffrey Alan, and Gregory Lee. Raised between Edinburgh, Indiana, Laredo, Texas and DFW, Wayne attended high school in Lewisville and later settled in the Metroplex. Here, he built a successful career and raised his daughters.
After high school Wayne worked tirelessly building a career, he was proud of in heating, air-conditioning, appliance repairs, and flooring. Really, he was an absolute "Jack of All Trades".
On October 30, 1984, Wayne's daughters, Ashley Nicole and Heather Elyse were born. He loved his girls immensely, and was so proud of all of their hard work. Wayne was a grandfather to 3 grandsons and 3 granddaughters. Gabriel Xavier (18), Isaiah Thomas (16), Ema Elyse (12), Sofie Lee (7), Joseph Mathew (6) and Amelia Elizabeth (3).
To know Wayne, was to love him. He was kind, loving, funny, witty, loyal, hard-working, honest and genuine. He loved to fill his time with his hobbies and the people he adored. Wayne loved playing poker, dancing, music, The Dallas Cowboys, boating, and just about anything on the water. He was a passionate animal lover and advocate. He loved his sweet dog, Koda who will now be loved and cared for by his sister, Cindy.
Wayne was predeceased in death by his mother, Helen, his father William, his brother, Greg, his niece, Megan and many other family and friends. He is survived by his daughters, Ashley and Heather (and their children), sister Cindy, brother Butch, brother Jeff, niece Steph, niece Jenny, nephew Tommy, many other nieces and nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and truly, countless beloved friends that he considered family.
A Celebration of Life will be planned in the future, at a time to be determined. Wayne’s final selfless act was to donate his body to UNT Health Science for doctors to learn more about this horrible cancer, and help others. We ask that everyone celebrate his life daily, in the little things that remind each of us of his love until we are able to schedule an official event.
