So sorry for the loss! I worked for Steve at Cash and Carry for 10+ years. We opened a new store in Sacramento and lived together for a couple of months. He pushed me hard every day and was always inspecting what he expected. For one year he called me at 6am asking what the sales would be for the day and then called me at 6pm asking what the sales were! I can contribute a majority of my success in life from the values I learned from Steve Smith.
I miss my dad so much. I miss the 5-10X daily calls that I never appreciated enough. I miss him driving by our house and honking. I miss dinners out together. I miss it all. Hug your loved ones tight.
Steve and I had a connection all through high school. The best way to describe it is that every time we would pass each other in the hall we would make eye contact and start laughing. We didn’t need to figure out what was funny. It was just something between us that came alive in humor. My high school years were hard but Steve made them better. Later in life when we connected on Facebook that connection was still there although it was not around humor, just a fondness for each other after so many years living our lives. I will always be grateful to him for making me laugh every day through high school. I’m so glad he had a loving family. My deepest condolences to you.
I knew Steve many many years ago when I lived in NB next to Greg and Marcia. Fun memories as kids playing on the mound of dirt between our homes. Stan probably remembers those days as Greg and Marcia should.
