Steven's obituary
Steven A. Trebes, 72, of Dundee IL, passed away on February 14, 2023 surrounded by loved ones at home.
Steve was born on September 22, 1950 to the late Cliff and Leone Trebes. He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in East Dundee, IL. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School, graduated from Dundee High School in 1968, and continued his education at Elgin Community College and Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, IL.
After attending NIU, Steve began his career as a butcher at Crichton's Supermarket. He purchased the Dundee Supermarket in 1980, which he owned through spring of 2004. Steve enjoyed a long career in meat preparation and retail.
On June 30, 1973, Steve married Lorna Baresel, whom he had dated since high school. They had two children, Jared and Christopher. Steve loved introducing them to various sports, and coached both of the boys in baseball and basketball. The family also enjoyed golfing together.
Steve was a devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather. His greatest loves were the Chicago Cubs, the University of Illinois Fighting Illini, his family & friends, and his two adoring grandsons.
He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Lorna Trebes; his sons Jared (Kelli) Trebes and Christopher (Jean Lombardi) Trebes; his grandsons Riley (10) and Cameron (6); his brother Dan (Liz) Trebes; many cousins, nieces, nephews and countless longtime friends.
A celebration of Steve's life will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in East Dundee, IL on Saturday, February 18, 2023. Visitation will take place from 11:00 am-1:00 pm, with funeral services to follow at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or School.
