Steve's obituary
Steven “Steve” Thomas
November 7, 1954 – November 3, 2025
Steve Thomas lived life with a full heart, a quick laugh, and a spirit that moved as fast as the Harley he loved to ride. Born to Edward Thomas and Elsie Reader, Steve grew up surrounded by family who shaped his gentle and joyful nature. In his early adulthood, his mother married Samuel B. Reader, who became an important part of Steve’s later life. Steve is survived by his daughter Amanda Thomas, his brother Mikel Thomas, and his stepsister Yvonne Reader. He is reunited in peace with Dan Reader.
Steve embraced the world with curiosity, humor, and kindness. He loved the Florida sun, the thrill of diving, good music, sweet treats, his mama, and every joy life offered. He was everyone’s favorite cousin and everyone’s favorite nephew because he carried a natural warmth that made people feel seen and valued.
His heart extended far beyond blood. He cherished his bonus kids John, Katie, and Matt Meason, and he adored his best friend Maribeth Meason, whose children he loved as though they were his own. Even the people who came into his life to work became family. His bug guy Mark and his house cleaner Tatiana were never just visitors. Steve cared about their lives and their stories and always looked forward to their presence in his home.
Steve had the rare gift of making every person feel like they were the center of his world. Whether you met him once or knew him forever, he listened intently and loved freely. He was loyal, accepting, gentle, and endlessly kind.
He was also truly fun and wild at heart. Silly, witty, mischievous, always ready with a joke, especially a dad joke, and he delivered them exactly when he wanted to. Steve lived fast and loved hard.
Of all the roles he held, the one he treasured most was being a dad. To his daughter, he was not only a father but her favorite human. Loving, funny, supportive, and bright.
Steve Thomas filled the world with laughter, light, and heart. He lived boldly, loved deeply, and left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever be a blessing.
