Steven's obituary

Steven Ronald Lewis, 57, passed away on July 4, 2025, in Detroit, Michigan. Born on August 11, 1967. Steve brought joy and laughter to everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Steve married the love of his life, Anji, on May 2, 2015. They resided in Saint Clair Shores. Their union was filled with shared adventures, laughter, and a deep bond that was evident to all who knew them. Together they built a life rich in friendships and family connections.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife Anji; his brothers Ron (Laura), Tim (Cindy), Jim (Lorraine), Scott (Sandy), and Earl J; his sisters Linda, Sheryl (Dave), Colleen, and Penny (John); and his many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins who brought him great pride and joy. Steve also shared close bonds with his extended family, friends and camping crew. His best friend David (Dawn) stood by him through thick and thin. He was a proud godfather to Sean (Kayla). He also held dear his brothers-in-law Scott, Mark, and Keith; and sister-in-law Mandy (Paul).

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Stefana and Earl Lewis.

Prior to his health struggles, Steve was a man of boundless energy and warmth. Steve had a zest for life that was contagious. He found happiness in the simple pleasures—camping, sporting events, singing along at concerts while doing the air guitar, hosting lively parties filled with laughter, traveling on vacations near and far, and most of all, spending time with those he loved.

Known for his quick wit and infectious sense of humor, Steve had a signature way of connecting with people. Friends will remember how he would always begin with “Can I ask you a question?” as if he needed to ask permission to ask a question. His love for dancing lit up every room he entered—he never missed a chance to move to the music or bring a smile to someone’s face.

Steve had an open heart not just for people but also for animals. He adored the many dogs who were part of his life over the years. His beloved chocolate lab Birdie was especially close to him and will miss him dearly.

Steve’s big heart and larger-than-life personality left an unforgettable mark on everyone he met. Though he is no longer physically present, the memory of his laughter, kindness, and joyful spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him.

May Steven Ronald Lewis be remembered always with love and gratitude for the light he brought into this world.
