Steven's obituary
Steve passed peacefully and pain free with his family by his side. It happened so quickly, God was merciful. Steve is survived by his Mom, Valerie Finley, Dad, Bill Murillo and his Sister, Julie Patchis and their families.
Steven was a talented artist – drawing, painting, sculpting, guitar, then food became his art and profession. From pizza and sandwich kitchens to Geoffrey’s Malibu and Porter Valley Country Club, his knife skills and work ethic always earned him high praises.
He was gifted with knives and could twirl a butterfly knife. He could also twirl nunchucks and did martial arts, earning his brown belt. He told us of the value of using his Karate skills in the kitchen as he could maneuver his 6’3” frame smoothly through the spaces as he efficiently worked.
Steven was a musician – he shredded on the guitar and played hard rock and acid metal in his high school rock band named D.I.A. – Death is Art.
He liked to do everything harder, faster, bigger. He loved his Hayabusa motorcycle, the fastest production street bike ever built, when he got it. That motorcycle was a beast he tamed and rode it like a tricycle, telling stories of flying through the canyons leaning hard in the curves.
Thank God Steven had nine lives, as he crashed motorcycles, scooters, bicycles, cars, even a skimboard. He had pins in his ankle and thigh, and so many scars on his head he couldn’t shave that long hair of his. Steven’s long hair, his trademark, we will never forget.
Steve was a gentle giant with a HUGE heart. We miss him and are beyond grateful for the sweet memories of the time we had. Now in spirit he is with us all always, and we’ll see him again in Heaven.
