Steven's obituary
**Steven Muelder**
*July 18, 1948 – January 18, 2025*
Steven Muelder, age 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Townsend, TN, on January 18, 2025, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born in Macomb, Illinois, on July 18, 1948, but growing up in Midland MI, Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Elizabeth Muelder, and his siblings Todd Muelder and Cathy Ames. He is survived by his brother Timothy Muelder, and his loving wife, Carol; his children, Christopher Muelder (Stacy), Hannah Voccola (Michael), and Abigail Jenkins (Jonathan); and his grandchildren, Archer, Sean, Griffin, Brendan, and Ansley.
Steven was a graduate in Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, where he developed a deep passion for science and technology. His career at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA, allowed him to contribute to the world of mirror fusion and high explosives research. He also nurtured his love for computers throughout his life by making computer work his personal ministry as well as auto mechanics. His fascination with technology was matched only by his devotion to his family and God, and his generous acts of service, which were his true expression of love.
Those who knew Steve will remember him for his corny jokes, servant’s heart, and the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life—like his love for carrot cake, the great outdoors, flamboyant neckties, football, Tennessee Lady Vols, and The Oakland A’s. His legacy lives on through his family and the many lives he touched with his thoughtful and caring nature.
The family will celebrate his life at Wild Laurel in Townsend, TN on February 1, 2025 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.
