My deepest heart felt condolences to Steve's family. I first met Steve several years back and discovered not only that we were both MSG's in Special Ops but both rode with The Blackhorse  Regiment during the Vietnam war.  I think we rehashed every war since high school in the last few years and I will genuinley  miss the old war horse.  Till we meet on Fiddlers Green Steve      ... all my blessings buddy.

Top was a legend, expert instructor and funny. Made us all better.

Steve and I became friends in 2003. We contracted with him for 9 years and he put our SWAT team through three levels of training and taught our snipers and breachers in several other training schools. We had the privilege of using the NSA facility near Columbus, Ga and he taught all of our training sessions there.

He had tons of knowledge, gave great advice to help not only our teams but he really focused on giving me the ability as a team commander to make the right decisions.

I will forever miss you my Friend, you will always be my Hero and Mentor. God Speed

Maj. Bill Lavender -Commander

Peach Co. SERT Team

Byron, Georgia Police Department

We had a health and welfare and I had a set of numchucks which was not allowed. Steve saw them and threw them across the hall into the CP to cover my ass.
I remember a high ranking officer said that Rangers couldn't dig in a defense and they put us in the rocky us place they could find. We dug for over an hour and only dug a foot down Steve says hold on I'll be right back and came back with shape charges. We had the fox holes down with over head cover in about another hour. He will always be in my thoughts.
