Steve was my best friend. He asked me to be his best man at his wedding. I drove in from Santa Fe New Mexico to attend the wedding. He studied with me in nursing school and helped me pass. After nursing school, he got a job working at nights and had an unpleasant apartment. I visited him and said Steve you gotta get out of there. It’s destroying you. He moved to Sacramento and worked at Sutter Hospital in neonatal for a time where he met his wife Nancy I’m glad I could be part of that.
Steve was one of my dearest friends we went to nursing school together. I would not have been able to get my nursing degree without his help. I miss him very much I know I’ll see him in heaven.
We met Steve in CMA. At that time, he was the Sacramento Spirit Warriors president. We just heard of his passing, and we are so very sad and sorry for Nancy and their children. He was such a great man.
Our dear friend who was family…when he worked at Mercy in Midtown Sac, he would call my husband, Paul, asking for “sanctuary “ at our home rather than battle the 5 PM traffic to head home to Antelope. We would visit him for his hospital events, and he would return the favor for Paul a few times. We shared churches for a couple decades and occasional concerts and did Tahoe R&R together. With the long curls and full beards, the left-handedness, the passion for making music, especially worship music, Steven and Paul were twin brothers of different mothers, without a doubt.
