Steven's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Steven MacInnis on September 11, 2024.
Steven was born on June 11, 1954, to parents Margaret and Lawrence MacInnis, who have predeceased him. He is the oldest sibling to Jill (Arne) Juoz, Tammy (Jim) McCrimmon, and a half brother to Stuart (Margaret) MacInnis. He was raised in Southwest Detroit and graduated from Western High School in 1972. Throughout his childhood, he made lifelong friends in which he still stayed in contact with.
Steven is survived by his daughters, Melanie (Jason) Petri and Megan (Leanne) MacInnis, who were the light of his life. He was a proud grandfather to his five grandchildren- Brendan, Ethan, Caleb, Skylie, & Ella, and his two great-grandchildren- Bryce & Noelle. His former wife, caregiver, and best friend, Trina MacInnis, also survives him. His family were the most important part of his life, and he was incredibly dedicated and loving to them. Steven's loss is deeply felt by all who knew and loved him, and his memory will be carried forward in the hearts and lives of his family.
Steven, also known as 'Mac', had an enriching life filled with love, service, and hard work. He was a man of many talents, and his unique personality left an indelible impression on those who knew him. Quiet and caring, Steven also had a funny and goofy side, which brought joy and laughter into the lives of his loved ones and friends. He loved traveling and was a self-proclaimed "foodie". He loved going out to eat and trying new foods. He loved music of all genres, especially Blues, and also enjoyed watching movies and television shows.
Steven was a proud and dedicated member of the Navy, having served from 1973 to 1975. His service during the Vietnam War was one of his greatest achievements, testament to his bravery and selfless commitment towards his country. He loved his country and was very proud of his time served.
Following his military service, Steven embarked on a rewarding career from which he retired from Link Engineering in 2022. For over 40 years, he devoted his life to his profession as a machinist. He loved working at Link and made life-long friends with his colleagues. After retiring, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of retiring in the Smokey Mountains by moving to Knoxville, TN with his best friend and former wife, Trina. Together, they enjoyed exploring the area and enjoying the new area, prior to his illness.
Steven's life was truly a remarkable one, and as we remember him, we celebrate a man who touched many lives with his kindness, humor, and dedication. He may have left us, but his spirit will forever be a beacon guiding us through life's journey.
