Personal note from Diane

Below is what I read at Steven's private burial:
STEVEN SCOTT KRAUSE
EULOGY
DECEMBER 8, 2023

You were born on March 26, 1963. From that day on you were mine.
When you came home from the hospital Mom would not let any neighborhood kids see you until I did.
One of my first memories is being 5 years old and playing with you in your playpen by the sliding glass doors in the den.
You grew up on Sesame Street and the Electric Company, and loved The Price is Right, MTV, Blondie, Linda Ronstadt, Bowling and the Astros.
The Astrodome was our second home. We were even there when the “triple play that wasn’t” happened in the championship series in 1980, a play so amazing it has its own place on the internet. We screamed with excitement until we lost our voices.
I remember the time Mom and Dad were traveling during Thanksgiving and she left us some “Thanksgiving fixings” to prepare for ourselves. We laughed until we cried at the frozen Swanson’s Turkey loaf she left us which we renamed Neapolitan Turkey for it’s not so subtle shading of light and dark meat. That with canned cranberry sauce, canned corn and instant mashed potatoes made for quite a meal. We couldn’t eat because we laughed so hard.
I remember working at the Galleria at the Lord and Taylor cosmetic counter while you worked at the B. Dalton Bookseller right by Lord & Taylor. My counter was situated at the front of the store and we could see each other and wave. Our favorite place to eat was the Magic Pan with its famous Orange Almond salad.
I remember when I failed my first semester of college and you surprised me with 99 paper A’s hanging from my bedroom ceiling when I made a comeback in the second semester, acing a history exam.
We never really fought. It was just the 2 of us. I regret a time when I was a teenager and not as attentive to you as I should have been.
You were too kind and good for this world. Your nephews adored you. They loved swimming with you, going to Astroworld with you and any other shenanigans we could create. We are forever grateful to you for the time you jumped in the pool fully clothed to save Jordy who fell in. As I recall, that happened more than once. Between that and the rainfall at our trips to Astroworld, your wallet never dried out.
We will continue to live with the many memories we created with you. I am so grateful that you are at peace, resting and in no pain. I love you Steven.

Everything on Earth is temporary but our souls are not. Therefore, we commit Steven’s ashes to the ground; earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust; knowing we will be with him again in eternal life.

Prepare the site
Ask: we have Steven’s ashes for us to disperse if you are comfortable. Please offer any words or a prayer if you would like.
End with Song Amazing Grace
