Steven's obituary
Born in Concord, New Hampshire, May 10, 1963, to Geraldine Ford Jacques and the late Albert Wendell Jacques, Steve was always an active child who liked to play. He graduated from Keene High School where he was a member of the wrestling and hockey teams. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1982-1986, Unit Citation Libya, serving aboard the USS Coronado. After an honorable discharge, Steve moved to Charleston, SC where he joined the International Association of Ironworkers (IW).
Steve was a certified scuba diver, a member of Ironworkers Local 601, the Southern Ironworkers and New Hope United Methodist Church. Steve enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and cheering on the Greenbay Packers. He loved to be in and on the water- lakes, rivers or the ocean.
In addition to his wife and mother, Steve is survived by his best friend, Bude (a lab mix); brother Michael Jacques (Deborah) of Gilsum, NH; sister Cynthia Jacques Willett (David) of Palm Coast, FL; mother-in-law Martha Pearce Hardegree of Carrollton, GA; aunts and uncles Joyce Foley, Douglas (Gail) Ford, Ronald (Beverly) Ford, all of NH; Nephews Ian Jacques of CA and Lt. Commander Peter Jacques of RI; sister-in-law Elaine McDaniel of Carrollton, GA; step-son Jackson deGaris (Lexie) of Jacksonville, FL, step-daughter Alicia Ward (Justin) of Charleston, SC; five step grandchildren, Jacob, Noah, Grace, Charlotte and Pearce; and numerous cousins and friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law Freddie T. Hardegree, brother-in-law Ricky McDaniel and his other best friend, Sissy (a lab mix).
The family held a virtual funeral service on April 23, 2020. His remains will be laid to rest at New Hope United Methodist Church. Letters of support may be mailed to the family. Those desiring to may make a memorial contribution may donate to the Trinka Davis Veterans Village Clinic or Kindred Hospice of Carrollton in memory of Steve Jacques.
