Steven's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steven Richard Drotar, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and son, who departed this world on 05/31/2025 at the age of 76. He spent his last days surrounded by the love of those he held most dear.
Steve was a quiet man with a dry sense of humor and a generous heart. Born in November of 1948, he grew up in a home, hand-built by his parents, Fern and William, sharing his days with his siblings, Sandy, Gary, and Sheryl. They came from good stock and were a close bunch that provided a steady foundation throughout his life. His stories of the antics of his youth always kept his kids and grandkids entertained and were shared with fondness and a laugh.
As a father, he was a rock. Steadfast, supportive, and endlessly loving, his children knew no shortage of encouragement or affection, and he guided them with stubbornness and pride. As a grandfather, he was forever looking out for his grandkids, making sure they had what they needed. As an uncle and a son, he was cherished for his loyalty, generosity, and warmth. He lived a life marked by hard work and humility, doing everything in his power to make life better for those he loved. He loved his dogs (almost as much as his kids), loved hitting the grocery store (often multiple times a day), and his friends and family could always count on him for a quick Irish goodbye.
Though we grieve this tremendous loss, we are comforted by the legacy of love he leaves behind—a family who adored him, memories that shine brightly, and the example of a life lived with purpose, kindness, and deep devotion.
Steven is survived by his children- Jesse, (Casey), Stephanie, (Ryan), (Michael)..., grandchildren- Jadyn, (Natalie), and Ronan, siblings- Gary (Reba), former wives Irene and Lyndsey, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, whose lives were touched by his quiet presence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fern and William, and siblings, Sandy, (Tony) Sheryl, and (Russ).
In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a donation, please donate to a local German Shepherd rescue or St. Jude’s charity – as Steve had a heart for both.
Although he is gone from our sight but will remain in our hearts.
Dad, we will love you always, and we’ll carry you with us every day.
