Steven's obituary
Beloved son, husband, and father, Steven “Brad” Austin, 42, of Albany Oregon passed suddenly on the early morning of September 7th, 2023. Brad was a bright star in the lives of the people he knew, in this, often difficult world. Always thinking and caring for others he will be missed by many friends and family.
Brad was born to teen parents, Steve and Marilyn (Poe) Austin in Prosser, Washington on July 28th, 1981. From an early age, Brad was smart and inquisitive. He loved learning and reading; always researching. He discovered a love for music and learned to play the guitar becoming a proficient singer-songwriter. His other passions included spending time at his cherished hometown on the coast in Lincoln City, camping, history, VW bugs, slot car racing, building and repairing bicycles, shrewd bartering, buying and selling, collecting antique and vintage items, taking pictures (especially of his daughter), and most importantly, helping, loving, and lifting up others. Brad was a believer in the risen Massiah, Jesus Christ. He read and studied the bible often. As he prayed, he called the Lord “Father”.
Brad met the love of his life Crystal Emig in 2006 in The Dalles, Oregon. She became his world. Five years later they married on the beach in Lincoln City on July 27th, 2011. During their time together they had many adventures; camping all over Oregon, visiting Yellowstone, the Redwoods, going to Disneyland, spending their honeymoon in St. Martin, moving to Germany for four months, and traveling Europe. Their greatest adventure was becoming parents. On September 18th, 2019, their daughter Lillian Evelee Rose was born. His family meant more to him than anything and he was unendingly proud to be a father.
Brad was predeceased by his mentor and friend Mel Blanchard, friend Bill Stratton, grandpa and friend John Dale Poe, and grandma Myrna Austin. He is survived by his wife Crystal and daughter Lillian, grandma and friend Cecelia (Poe) Miller and husband Dan, aunt Verline (Austin) Groves and husband Gary, his grandpa and friend Vern Austin. His father Steve Austin and wife Henrietta, sisters Mariah and Carlee. His mother Marilyn Clifford and dad Jeff. Siblings Brian, Katie, Trent, Martin, and Andy. Uncle and godfather Troy Poe and his partner Cindy, uncle John and aunt Naomi Poe, aunt Ronda Jenson and husband David. His in-laws, Ray and Marcia Emig. And many more family.
Brad will be laid to rest close to his grandfather at Prosser Cemetery per his wishes. A memorial service will be held in Lincoln City July 27th. Please contact the family for details.
