Living Wide
Steven Craig Barger
August 25, 1957 - May 20, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Steven Craig Barger on May 20, 2025, at age 67. Craig left this world surrounded by the love of his family and friends, just as he lived—connected to those who mattered most.
Craig was a man who truly understood how to live fully. His personal motto, "Living Wide," wasn't just words to him—it was a philosophy that guided every adventure, every relationship, and every moment of joy he embraced. Whether he was carving down ski slopes, dancing with abandon, crafting beautiful pieces in his woodworking shop, or sailing across open waters, Craig approached life with infectious enthusiasm and boundless curiosity.
His deep faith in God anchored him, while his love for family propelled him forward. Craig was devoted to fulfilling his bucket list, always planning the next adventure or experience to share with those he loved. His loving family will carry forward not just his memory, but his spirit of adventure and his belief that life is meant to be lived boldly.
Neighbors and friends knew Craig as the man who'd arrive at their door with a full tool belt, ready to lend a helping hand. He was always willing to give his time and support, going above and beyond for anyone in need. Whether he was working on a project or inviting friends over for dinner and a football game, Craig unfailingly led with kindness and compassion. These simple moments of friendship and connection were as precious to him as any grand adventure.
Craig was preceded in death by his father Richard Barger and brother Cris Barger. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 37 years, Penney Barger; his mother Jean Brockman; siblings Karl Barger and Kimberly Panasci; children Aaron Barger and Nicole Foguth; one nephew and six nieces; three grandchildren; six great-nephews; and three great-nieces.
Craig's legacy lives on in every life he touched, every laugh he shared, and every moment his family chooses to embrace his philosophy of living wide. His unwavering spirit, boundless humor, and deep wisdom will continue to guide those who loved him.
Until we meet again, Craig—live wide on the other side.
