I had the pleasure of working with and learning from Steve during our time together at the New York Times Regional Group from 2006-2010. He was in Florence but took great interest in my young family and our well-being in Lakeland, where we had our home. Steve was an excellent leader and adored by all who had the privilege to work with and know him. We will always be grateful for that, and our hearts are with his family and so many friends.

The news of Steve’s passing saddens me deeply.  He and Cheryl’s love for each other, the community, and others always shined brightly.  My deepest sympathy to Cheryl and Steve’s family.  May the wonderful memories and his good deeds provide comfort and peace.

Our grief at the loss of such a wonderful man so soon is profound but I know we all learned from him to live each day to the fullest and to love all we meet along the way.

So honored to have worked with Steve at The Ledger.  I learned so much from him, and will always carry the good memories with me.
