Steven's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Steven Hudson, who passed away  on the 30th of December, 2023. Steve was born on the 9th of June, 1949 in Eureka, California and lived a life full of strength, loyalty, and dependability. An esteemed Master Diesel Mechanic and Air Force veteran, Steve leaves behind him a remarkable legacy.

Steve had a unique personality that was a blend of wit, dry humor, and reservation. His reliable nature made him a dependable friend to many. Among those who will miss him deeply are his wife of 53 years, Barbara Hudson, his son Louis Hudson and daughter Corey Portfolio. As well as his grandchildren Sonika Sanabria, Kenna Hudson, Taylor Portfolio, Peyton Portfolio and Daughter in law, Stephanie Hudson.

With a strong character, Steve was an individual of his words. "Keep your promises" – a simple yet powerful principle he practiced and preached. His ability to keep promises and to remain unwavering in his loyalty are traits that left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege to know him.

Steve was not just a Master Diesel Mechanic, at the age of 16 he founded his own logging truck company, Hudson Brothers, in Humbolt County. Additionally, he served his country with honor and pride in the U.S. Air Force. Following his military service, he was employed at Ben's Truck Repair in Red Bluff for 53 years. His accomplishments in these fields were a testament to his strength, grit, and perseverance. He was a man one could rely on, earning the trust and respect of his colleagues and friends alike.

Steve's legacy will continue to endure through his family, friends, and everyone he touched in his lifetime. It is a legacy of sterling character, of promises kept, and of love unbounded.

Steve  was indeed a pillar of strength with a strong belief in God and he will be missed dearly by all. In the wake of our loss, may we all draw strength from the life Steve lived and strive to embody the virtues he held dear in our own lives. His life was a testament to the fact that true strength lies in loyalty, dependability, and integrity – lessons that will continue to inspire us forever.
