Steven's obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Steve Eveland on May 18, 2023, in the presence of his beloved family after a sudden 2-week battle in the hospital.

If you were blessed enough to know Steve, you know he never went down without a fight. That fight continued into his last moments of life. His utmost respect for not only those close to him, but strangers on the street, will forever be honored by his loved ones. Steve wore many different hats throughout his life. To name a few, devoted husband, date night enthusiast, on-call therapist to his girls, sports fanatic, #1 son, and countless other roles he took on throughout the years. No matter the problem, Steve was there to fix it. He had many loves aside from his family during his life such as his many friends, baseball, and his eclectic taste in music ranging from Frank Sinatra to the Glee soundtrack. Another strong example of the many sides to his big heart.

Steve was born on February 17, 1972, to his parents Linda and Wayne Eveland. Steve was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a part of Lafayette's graduating class of 1990. He continued on with a commendable work ethic, always providing for his family. If you aren’t familiar with the story of Steve & Sheryl, it actually started back in high school. Sheryl, being a year older, included Steve in her carpool where she drove him and her friends to school every day. While their connection ended post-graduation, their story continued years later upon reconnecting. They have spent the last 7 years showing the world around them what true love really is.

Steve was preceded in death by his Granddaughter: Kinsley Eveland, Grandparents: Velma/Horace Edington, and Stella/Porter Eveland, Godfather: Samuel Neil Edington, Mother-in-law: Helen Lewis.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Sheryl Eveland (Sherla); Daughters: Sami Eveland (Slam), Maddie Eveland (Shorty), and Lindsey Eveland (Louser); Stepchildren: Kennedy Silverberg (Kay), and Andrew Silverberg; Sisters: Amy Terris (John) and Lisa Burd (Mike); Parents: Linda and Wayne Eveland; as well as beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to St. John's Mercy ICU & Barnes Jewish ICU for their compassionate care and hard-working team during Steve's stay. A few honorable mentions we would like to thank are, Dr. Schneider (Mercy), Dr. Banye (Mercy), Nurse Maddi (Mercy), Nurse Nick (Mercy), Dr. Tambe (Barnes), Nurse Julia (Barnes), Nurse Emily (Barnes), Nurse Terry (Barnes) and Nurse Kat (Barnes). We are forever grateful for the love, support, and care not only Steve received, but our family during this unimaginable time.

In remembrance of Steve, we welcome you to a public memorial service at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church (Hope Church), 1166 S Mason Rd Saint Louis, MO 63131 on June 4th at 12:30pm. Immediately following, a private family luncheon will be held at the Good Shepherd Reception Hall.

Our family kindly request that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate through this difficult time. Steve will forever be in our hearts and continue to be profoundly missed.
