Our favorite memory of Steve is probably well-known family lore, but worth sharing again since it always makes everyone smile. We hope our recollection is close to accurate :) Ruth and Jim were having some work done at the Oak Hills house - a new deck, if memory serves - and Michael A. was also tasked with upgrading the fireplace mantle near the kitchen. Steve told Michael, “be sure it is not level, so Mom can’t make piles on it.” Our Michael G. was a maker of piles & Cindy inherited that trait, so both Barbara and Cindy appreciate Steve’s sentiment! The mantle was gorgeous and level, but Steve’s request is what makes the story.
He will be remembered fondly and we send our condolences. Given his love of animals and our inability to join you for his celebration of life, a donation in his memory was made to the Oregon Humane Society.

I remember seeing Steve at a party at his parents’ house. He was dressed in khakis and a red polo. Along came Eric, and he, too was dressed in khakis and a red polo! They looked like brothers! Somewhere there’s a picture of that; I’ll keep hunting for it!

Dear Suzie, Alexa and Amy,
We were so sorry to hear of Steve’s unexpected passing. He was truly larger than life and we always enjoyed being with him.
Eric & I will be out of the area for his memorial but will certainly keep you all in our thoughts. May he, Ruth and Jim look down on you and bless you from heaven.
