Steve's obituary
Stephen Robert Zimmermann passed away on February 17, 2025, in Broomfield, Colorado.
Steve was born on January 28, 1953, to Frank and Margaret Zimmermann, in Boston, Massachusetts. After graduating from Easton Area High School in 1970, he went on to study Engineering at Swarthmore College. He later earned a Master's degree in Software Engineering from CU in Boulder. He married Paulette Habets Zimmermann in 1982 and shared the love of raising their four children, Jennifer, Dean, Paul, and Taylor over 25 years of marriage. They enjoyed coaching and attending their kids' many sporting events, going to Rockies games, camping and fishing with their motorhome, and hosting many holidays and parties at their home. Everyone always looked forward to the annual Summer Solstice party and Steve's home brewed beer and root beer.
In 2009, he met his wife, Marcia, who shared his passion for music, singing, art and adventure. Together they traveled the world, savoring fine wines and cuisine, sang in grand cathedrals, sailed alongside his sister, Marcy, and soared through the skies in his airplane. They also loved being at home, in the quiet company of one another and their Labrador, Luna.
Both Steve's parents were accomplished pilots and he followed in their footsteps, obtaining his pilot's license at the age of 16. His love for aviation extended beyond personal flight, as he also owned and operated the gliding school in Boulder, sharing his passion with others.
His true artistry emerged through his air-to-air and air-to-ground photography. He possessed a unique ability to capture the world from breathtaking perspectives, transforming landscapes and aircraft into stunning visual narratives. His goal was to "...allow the viewer to see the world with fresh eyes."
Beyond his remarkable talents, Steve was a loving husband, brother, father, cherished "Opa", uncle and loyal friend. He is survived by his wife, Marcia Kay Dellacroce, daughter, Jennifer Zimmermann Talbott, son-in-law, Will Talbott, granddaughter, Hali Talbott, son, Dean Zimmermann, daughter-in-law, Kelly Zimmermann, granddaughter, Regan Zimmermann, grandson, Bode Zimmermann, son, Paul Zimmermann, son, Taylor Zimmermann, sister, Marcy Brenner, nephew, Benedikt Boelli, his wife, Lea Boelli, and great nephew, Diego Boelli.
