Missing Stephen but happy to celebrate his birthday with wonderful music today!

Remembering Stephen on his birthday today, and missing him terribly. Thankful that he is safe in heaven and one day I will see him again. Love Christy

Missing Stephen always and thankful Pabo is now with him in heaven. All of us so happy for Naomi in her new marriage to Brad who is wonderful.  I know Stephen would be too and as Benji says wisely, "Naomi deserves to be happy." Blessings, Christy

We are missing Stephen today and often quote him and the hilarious things he would say during hard times. This side of heaven, it's so hard to understand why suffering happens and he died when he was so young.  I believe in the Christian hope, and in faith,  I know, Stephen is not lost, I know where he is, he is not "dead" but alive in heaven in his new body with no more suffering. I look foreword to the day when I will see him again. My prayers are with Naomi, my dad, our extended family, and all of us who knew and loved the Stephen. Love Christy
Dear Naomi - I was cleaning out Carole Flatau's papers and came to an entire folder dedicated to you and Stephen.  She had a lot of regard for you and saved all her emails and cards to and from you.  We lost Mom 10/3/2020, but she would have been so sad for your loss had she not been ill.  If you have an address, I know I'd like to send a card to you in her name.  Carole's daughter, Christine Meyers

Dear Naomi - so many thanks to you and Stephen for helping Joshua to grow into a wonderful young man. Stephen has touched so many people with his warmth and sincerity, and I hope that remembering that can bring some happiness to you despite the immense loss.
My best to you - Thomas
This song made me think of Stephen, and also Naomi. I love you both

Thanks for bringing joy to me through music as a young child. I loved days where Steven would help me with big hand chords, always appreciated how he talked with me and treated me

Thinking about Don and the whole family today. Wishing Naomi's heart has found peace, despite her immeasurable loss. Much love to all who were touched by Stephen.
Dearest Naomi -- We are remembering Stephen today, and will never ever forget him and all our beautiful memories with him. Our hearts are heavy and sad, weeping with you today, even as we are grateful that Stephen is in heaven, safe with Jesus, and we will see him again as the Bible says, in the "blink of an eye" as we put our faith in the reality of heaven. We are praying for you today, our sister. Love Chris
We were blessed to have Stephen as our choir director at BMUC. With his exuberance, musical talent and faith in Christ, Stephen brought so much joy to our small congregation. I had often thought that Stephen, along with Naomi, was the heart and soul of our church. We will remain eternally grateful for his presence in our lives. We truly had a taste of heaven, having had the privilege of knowing Stephen.

Naomi, we pray that through God’s love for you and for Stephen, you will find comfort in the ensuing days and remain strong.

Naomi - we are so shocked and saddened to hear of Stephen's passing. He was a wonderful piano teacher to my daughters Isabelle and Francesca - gave them the gift of loving music and piano from an early age and always made class fun, funny and fully of delight. He was a truly extraordinary person in every way! You and Stephen are in our thoughts and we hope you find comfort in the many wonderful memories you have together. All the best, Fiona, Tom, Isabelle and Francesca

Stephen was the organist at our wedding at BMU. We didn't want here comes the bride, so we asked him to play the theme to "Sesame Street." He wasn't sure about it, so we said how about the Star Wars theme song (Throne Room). It was the best rendition we've ever heard. John Williams ain't got nothing on Steven.
I remember when Stephen was born and the blessing he brought to the Varney family! His mother, Andrea, was one of my cherished friends! My deepest sympathy to Don and the rest of the Varney family! He was a light in your lives and all those who knew him. You are in my thoughts and prayers. With much love,
Linda Swander Mcmullen

Some of my most genuine, uncontrollable laughter in life has been shared with Stephen. He was very funny and truly a master of making light of unpleasant situations without denying the reality of them. He was also incredibly kind and supportive, and truly one of the most important authority figures for me as both a teenager and young adult. I will miss him greatly as I'm sure will many others.

Stephen was my first choir master. I was so unknowing that I sat with the altos (I’m a tenor.). I sat there for months. No one said a word to me, including Stephen. Somehow he taught me that I was a tenor. I learned many other things regarding music. He taught me and my fellow seniors with patience and humor. He didn’t water down his song selections that I was aware of. Surprisingly we learned the songs. I miss singing those songs with Stephen. I miss Stephen.
