Stephen's obituary
Stephen Robert Sandala
June 28, 1954 – January 29, 2025
Stephen Robert Sandala, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 29, 2025, in Riverside, California, at the age of 70.
Born in Gary, Indiana, on June 28, 1954, Steve spent most of his life in Southern California, where he built a life centered around hard work, family, and the great outdoors. For over 25 years, he worked as an electrician with IBEW Local 477, taking great pride in his trade and the brotherhood that came with it. After retiring, he made his home in Kingman, Arizona, with his loyal dog Trevor, who was his constant companion and friend.
A man of the outdoors, Steve found joy and peace in camping, hunting, and fishing. These weren’t just pastimes—they were a way of life that he cherished and often shared with those he loved. Whether he was camping under the stars, telling tall tales on a fishing trip, or simply relaxing in his favorite chair with a cold Bud, Steve lived for the little things that made life enjoyable.
Stephen is survived by his daughter, Kristine Sandala, and his son, Stephen M. Sandala. He leaves behind eight grandchildren, each of whom brought him their own kind of pride and joy. He is preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Haven Sandala, whose memory remained close to his heart.
His wit was sharp and his sarcasm legendary. He had a way of making people laugh—whether they wanted to or not. Steve will be remembered for his independence, his sense of humor, and his love of the outdoors. His legacy lives on in the memories of those who truly knew him, and in every perfectly grilled trout shared around a campfire.
In accordance with his wishes, no memorial service will be held.
