We were camping on an island in Lake Martin. Earlier in the day Josh and Stephen found what we thought to be the skull of a squirrel. We naturally lashed it to a stick and created a "Story Telling Stick" and only he/she who had the stick could tell stories around the campfire.

Wow... I don't know how many of these cards we had until recently here at home. My husband, Bruce, had the habit of picking a card each time we saw a doctor. He would write the date and who had seen the doctor that day to make it easier to report our tax deductions. Dr. Pehler was first his Doctor and then mine, too. He operated Bruce's lower back in December 2020. I saw him around April, maybe, this year, and was happy when he told me that I didn't need surgery for my back. Bruce and I had three most favorite doctors, and Dr. Pehler was one of them. I clearly remember my first appointment with him (last year) after Bruce passed away. I got a bit worried because he entered the room with a serious countenance. He then came direct to me and held my hand with both of his.  "I'm SO sorry, he said," with such empathy! I will never forget that. That was Dr. Pehler for us; almost like a close friend, whom we dearly loved. I was scheduled to see him yesterday (it would be my last appointment with him, since I'm moving back to Brazil on December 5th, and I wanted to take the chance to say "goodbye", tell him how much Bruce and I loved him, and thank him for everything he had done for us). They called me last week, however, on the 10th, to cancel the appointment. I simply couldn't believe my ears. As a mother of a wonderful son, four years, only, older than yours, I would like to extend to you my most warmth embrace. I cannot even imagine what you are going through. May the beautiful and tender memories be the balm able to heal, little by little, yours and your family's hearts. ❤️
