Stephen Francis Newell

Stephen Francis Newell, 60 of Winona, died Saturday, October 25, 2014 at St. Anne Extended Healthcare.Stephen was born September 9, 1954 in Winona to Joseph and Frances (Zywicki) Newell. 

He attended Winona Senior High School and later studied at Southeast Technical College. Steve was a hairstylist for many years in Winona.

He is survived by his son, Shawn Newell of Japan; sisters, Nancy (Ken) Mehaffey of Winona and Becky (Bill) Soranno of Winona; grandchildren, Taiyo and Sora Maruyama of Japan;  and Hannah, Tynan, Brynn, Kian, and Quinton Connors; Great grandson Mason Marino; and nieces and nephews. 

Stephen is preceded in death by his father. Memorial service was held at 2pm, Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Hoff Celebration of Life Center led by Funeral Celebrant Jenny Hoff. A gathering of family and friends took place until 4pm. 

God saw Steve getting tired, a cure was not to be. God wrapped him in his loving arms and whispered "Come with me." He suffered much in silence, but his spirit did not bend. He faced his pain with courage, until the very end. He tried so hard to stay with us but his fight was not in vain, God took him to His loving home and freed him from the pain.
