My son Joshua's first guitar …
2017, Lanier Music, Louisiana 59, Mandeville, LA, USA
My son Joshua's first guitar lesson
Steve gave my kids the gift of music and his wonderful friendship we will miss him so very much
Steve has been a part of my family’s life for over 15 years. My son, Austin, started lessons with Steve at age 14 but he got more than guitar lessons. He got mentorship, friendship, loyalty, life lessons, a “safe” place to be in the turbulent teen years with Steve at Lanier Music. When Austin became a teen father, Steve was a trusted adult and a love of music became a shared form of communication. When Austin’s son, Daron, was ready to learn guitar, there was only one person to consider as a teacher-Steve. So I found myself driving another teen to Lanier every week and the legacy continued. Austin remained in Steve’s life as the mechanic who kept his car going. We are profoundly sad at the loss of such a kind, caring person and will all miss Steve🙏🏻❤️

What he gave my son for the last 3 years was WAY more than guitar lessons. He gave him someone to look up to, confidence, sense of belonging, life advice, good stories, and great laughs! Now when I hear my son play his guitar all I can do is look up to the sky, smile real big with tears on my eyes, and say Thank you Steve! Thanks for helping him find himself and his true passion (Rock music) Steve will live in our hearts forever ❤💔💙

Steve has been the closest, and longest friend I have ever had in my life. He got me off the hard drugs, taught me wisdom and fun, he taught me the difference between work and play, for him, work was play and that I envied. He wS like a big brother, body guard, best friendhe was oneof a kind. He taught me Foosball and I learned enough German to know what my favorite German metal song says. To anyone reading this its nothing. To me... its a 20 year, irreplaceable friend and brother. I live u man. U were there as I was a teenager, to a crazy 20y/o ,through my pregnancy, to a missing person, to a successful mom and now the last time we talked u were so happy and proud of me. U have a price of my heart ❤ until we meet again. Fly high my man. I love you

My brother Steve, RIP. Gone too soon. You almost made it to 60 but thats still way too soon to go. Silver lining is that there is something better beyond this life and hopefully you are there and enjoying the folks and all the fam and friends who have gone before us. We sure enjoyed some deep philosophical discussions as well as sports and politics. I also enjoyed our too few improv jams as well as you lighting up my NOLA Voodoo Custom Electric
Guitar, you could play any song flawlessly, it was pure amazement. I will miss you my friend and hopefully we will meet again.
To all of Steve’s family, friends, coworkers, students & musicians . My ❤️ & prayers 🙏 go out to each and every one of you for the pain & loss you are enduring at this time!! From the first time we were introduced with Steve’s smile , hand shake & the talk and love of music was a smash hit for the friendship that developed . As a coworker I saw Steve able to reach & teach his students in a way to be better musician’s but also be a better person in life. Steve in between his students teaching or if someone were late or a no show to practice, he helped crack a shell around my granddaughter that I could not, Steve saw this and he reached out to encouraged her, she was not a student of his she would practice singing & playing piano, downstairs at Lanier Music waiting on her own lessons, Steve opened her mind that if she kept practicing she would improve & could sing & play anything. He invited her out to sing & play at some local business’s with his students to show off their musical talents to their family’s and the business patrons!! What a way to teach & in courage Young musicians how to show off what they had learned and show their talents to the public & not just to Steve the 4 walls in a practice room !! What a concept to open to his students!! Fortunately their were a few times we got to see & hear each other perform, a thrill for both of us either on the stage or in the audience!! Unfortunately we never had the pleasure to preform together on a stage on this earth 🌏 ! In closing to my friend & fellow musician & coworker a super “Cranking” THANK YOU for the friendship, encouragement, musicianship, and sharing in the love of music, to each other, Especially the love, kindness, encouragement, & teaching you gave to all your students to my granddaughter Gabriella ! Steve did not just give her special attention he gave it to all !! For I Hope and Pray when my time has come, I will join you and so many other’s that have past on before me in this life, I will see you on the other side my friend in Rockin’ Roll Heaven, and play music together for that Great Gig in the Sky !! My God’s Love Shine Upon You !! For the Love & Kindnesses you’ve left here on Earth!!

Thank you Steve for enhancing my son’s love of guitar and music. You were not only a teacher but friend to my son and I will forever be grateful. You will be missed. Prayers going out to your family and friends.
Steve was my best friend. He has always been there for me to give advice and anything I needed. He would always check up on me no matter what. We talked just about everyday, I will miss him with everything I have. I’m so grateful he was such a big part of my life because he made it better. He kept me looking forward and was a positive force in my life. We always had plans so we’d have something to look forward to. I don’t know what I’ll do without him. But I know he’s flying high with the angels now and he will always be with me! I love u Steve and thank you for being my friend!!!!
