Stephen's obituary

Stephen B. Forcade, a devoted Christian, loving husband, and cherished father and grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at the age of 75. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and unwavering dedication to family.

Stephen was born on March 27, 1949 to Mary (Hester) Forcade in Beloit, Kansas. His father, Everett P. Forcade passed away six months prior to his birth. The Forcade family moved to Fort Worth, Texas and Stephen met the love of his life, Charlotte. Their enduring bond, a testament to true love, spanned 57 years of marriage.

A proud Veteran, Stephen served his country with honor in the United States Army, completing two combat tours in Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor,  Purple Heart, and an Air Medal during his first tour from 1967-1968, serving in the 9th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Vietnamese Gallantry Cross with Silver Star during his second tour from 1971-1972, serving on Military Intelligence - MACV Advisory Team 43 and Mobile Advisory Team 20. He remained committed in his steadfast support of fellow Veterans for the entirety of his life.

He went on to further serve in the United States Postal Service for over 25 faithful years, retiring in 2009.

Stephen's life was marked by a profound sense of service and a commitment to making the world a better place. His motto, "leave it better than you found it," guided his actions throughout his life. One of his most passionate endeavors was volunteering with the International War Graves Association to locate and photograph grave sites, providing solace and closure to countless families searching for their loved ones across the globe.

Stephen was a gifted artist with a keen eye for finding the beauty in the world. He found joy in creative expression, telling his story through the design of glass-etching, mosaic tiles, photographic art, and other artistic pursuits.

Above all, Stephen cherished his family. He was a devoted father to Sheila, Wendy, and Steven, an adoring grandfather to four, a doting great-grandfather to six, and a proud great-great-grandfather to two. His love for his family was immeasurable, and he delighted in teaching and creating lasting memories with them.

Stephen will be deeply missed, but while this is the end of his physical life, it is the beginning of his eternal and beautiful journey in Heaven. His legacy lives on and will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Stephen was predeceased by his father and mother, Everett and Hester Forcade, his brothers, Dennis and David, and his sister, Janet.
