I am heartbroken to hear about Steve's death.

We grew up together in Medfield Massachusetts. We used to hang out daily together. When you hang out with a person from age 12 to 19 years old You get to know them fairly well. He was 1 person that had all the answers, and always had it together.

Except when you have a friend like me 😀 Your parents are out of town let's have a keg party! So the word got out that there was a big  party on Juniper lane, the entire town showed up! way out of control it took us 2 days to clean up.

The thing I remember most about Steve was, his honesty, And his love for family and friends.

Stevie D as I affectionately called him, was a unique. He had an eye for operational excellence and the working components of it, and he was always there for you regardless.... selfless with a desire to get it right for all. I cannot count the hours of windshield time we had while visiting the communities we managed, and even got Stevie out on the golf course! It was literally 103° that day in SC, and on the 9th hole Stevie asked me, "do we have to keep going?" We headed back to the clubhouse, them to our hotel to her cleaned up, then over to our local go-to, Outback Steakhouse....miss you, brother.

I first met Stephen in 2011 during a job interview and I later had the pleasure to work for him when he was a VP for FSR in our market.  Stephen and I connected over much more than work and he took an interest in helping me professionally and personally. I will forever be grateful to Stephen for his honesty and for being a mentor to me.  Growing up an USAF Brat, we would talk about various aircraft both he and my dad had flown or worked on and when we both moved on to work in different parts of the country, I would send him a note every so often and thank him for his service to our country on Veteran's Day.  It was a great way to stay connected over the years.

The one thing that I will always remember about Stephen is how dialed in he was to the properties, boards, and other managers he supported.  You could always count on Stephen to be there for you and to show up with his A game.  Stephen had a great read on people, and I learned to trust his opinion and insights.  I will forever be grateful to Stephen for his support and leadership in my career.

To Eileen and Kacie, Stephen always talked about you, and you could tell how much he loved his family and how proud he was to have you in his life.  Stephen leaves a great legacy, he helped a lot of people, and was a loyal friend, and mentor.  It is honor to say that I knew your husband and dad and I am very proud to have worked alongside him serving premiere communities in this country.   Stephen made a difference; may his memory be eternal.
