Steve's obituary
To ALL OUR FAMILY & FRIENDS:
While I want to share so many fantastic & positve attributes, I'm saddened to report the sudden & unexpected passing of Stephen Renee Butler, on July 22, 2024-age 68, in Prescott AZ. Born on October 17, 1955 at Sewart A.F. Base in Smyrna TN, he was (most recently) preceded in death by his very devoted parents--CMSgt Joe & Helen Butler.
Stephen was loved & respected by many; known for his kind & laid back demeanor, deep love of country, military service, loyalty, & most of all-his most proud accomplishments of producing three loving children: preceded in death was his first child & son Daniel Butler (9/26/1984) and survived by daughters Sharon Butler and Virginia Butler. While he is also survived by his sister, Susan, he will be sorely missed by a host of other relatives and many friends!
Stephen was raised as an (Air Force) 'military brat ' & encompassed most of those attributes given to him through his years of military life: love of country & family, as well as a curious quest of knowledge about people, history and politics. Like his father, he chose to enlist in the Air Force & completed several successful years, before settling into starting his own family life. He was considered to be a walking encyclopedia, when it came to most subjects involving statehood, genealogy and especially the lawless Wild West! Through his many travels across the country, he developed a true appreciation for nature, the exploration of the many parks, trails & campsites that our America had to offer. He enjoyed a good movie, spaghetti westerns, was a ferocious reader of books and thoroughly enjoyed a really good surf & turf!
He was a long time, devoted lover of all things SAAB. He maintained relationships throughout the country (and beyond)--often attending SCNA meetings & conventions. There, he would show & display his vintage SAAB classic 'baby'--that he was so proud of. He also grew up collecting stamps and old postcards that told the stories of days gone by & places that no longer exist (as we know them today)--again, with his love of history.
For those that knew Stephen, Steve or 'Stevie', it was not in his nature to dwell or tary for very long! He was quick to embrace everything that life had to offer, but unfortunately, he also left us with the same swiftness and speed that he lived by. We will miss his sense of humor, kindness, concise words of wisdom &most of all--his love for all things and people gifted to us, here on earth.
!AMORE PATRIAE!
